the house of lemurs

the house of lemurs

First of all... I shouldn't even have to tell you at this point, but the first single from Mr. Pope's new album is out TODAY. Before you read any further or look at ANY monkey photos, march your virtual butt down to the iTunes store (or amazon store if you wish) and buy "LICK MY WOUNDS" !!!! And I don't want to hear excuses. Yes, I know you can stream it. Guess what doesn't allow us to create more music... the $0.0002 we get from streaming. OK, rant over and back to the monkeys.

Like I mentioned yesterday, on our last day in Stockholm we decided to check out their open air museum, Skansen. This was the first of its kind in Sweden and after I read about it, I had to go! I relish every second we have off the bus and it's even better when there is something to see/do outside! While I visit museums in every city where I have time to, admittedly, they all start to look the same. This place is SO DIFFERENT. I'll allow wikipedia to explain the concept:

Skansen is the first open air museum and zoo in Sweden and is located on the island Djurgården in StockholmSweden. It was founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius (1833–1901) to show the way of life in the different parts of Sweden before the industrial era.
After extensive traveling, Hazelius bought around 150 houses from all over the country (as well as one structure from Telemark in Norway) and had them shipped piece by piece to the museum, where they were rebuilt to provide a unique picture of traditional Sweden. Only three of the buildings in the museum are not original, and were painstakingly copied from examples he had found. All of the buildings are open to visitors and show the full range of Swedish life from the Skogaholm Manor house built in 1680, to the 16th century Älvros farmhouses.

Soooo, right. About the Lemurs. No, they aren't native to Sweden. Whatever - they are SO DAMN ADORABLE. Check everything out below and GO BUY "LICK MY WOUNDS" - I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO TELL YOU AGAIN.

Did anyone spy the inappropriate monkey? FOR SHAME! He doesn't know the rules.

I've been very yell-y today. I might need to hit up yoga after work.  Sorry about that.

Hope you enjoyed that as much as I enjoyed reliving it.

Have a lovely day.

xo,
